For older generations the sound of the days post dropping on the doormat may have long ago lost its thrill. But according to The Life Stages of Mail research by Royal Mail MarketReach,
the fledgling demographic – young adults living with parents – are more likely to open direct mail than their older counterparts with communications representing a novelty in their digital world
The study found that fledglings are – 18% more likely than the general population to welcome direct mail and 32% more likely to find it memorable- Nearly a quarter have bought or ordered something
as a result of direct mail in the last 12 months -A third kept mail for future reference -32% more likely to trust mail compared to online – however 18-24 year olds receive less mail than any other age group
